Vinyasa | Saucha: Cleansing the Home of the Body

55 MINUTE | VINYASA | ALL LEVELS

A Flow for Digestion, Clearing & Release

Consider this practice a mind-body cleanse, a sacred maintenance practice of cleaning and clearing. Through asana, breath and intention we explore the yogic observance "Saucha," often translated as "cleanliness."

Throughout the human experience (and especially if you live in a Capitalist society) it can be far too easy to accumulate, overconsume and accrue - whether it's material possessions, food, information, or anything through the 5 senses. Ayurveda and Yoga remind us that all things need to be digested and assimilated; that what is no longer necessary be released for renewal and health of the whole.

In this practice we invite lots of somatic 'cleansing.' Great if you are experiencing stagnancy, lethargy, tension, lack of inspiration or stuckness, congestion, upper respiratory symptoms or digestive imbalances. If you’ve picked up a lot of energy that is not yours and need to clear your space. Also great for Kapha (spring) season to release winter build up.

What to expect: Twists for digestion, heart openers for increased circulation, breathwork to release toxins and more. Some hip openers to invite apana vayu - downward and outward flow of Prana. Working towards: Camel & Optional Camel Variation.

Suggested Props: Two bricks at front of mat.
